On Tuesday evening, before the media opening of the Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan held a reveal event for the 2015 GT-R and GT-R NISMO models at Nissan’s global headquarters in the city of Yokohama. An exciting visual about the history of the GT-R and the GT-R NISMO’s record run at the Nurburgring were concluded when Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn was driven onto the stage in a very special NISMO car.
The heavily disguised machine was driven by NISMO global brand ambassador and racer Michael Krumm and was the exact car that Krumm drove to a new volume production car record at the Nurburgring. Late in the afternoon of September 30, Krumm stormed around the circuit in just 7:08.679, smashing the standing record by ten seconds. In a car that a consumer can buy from their local Nissan dealership.
Please excuse the rather shaky cell phone video. It still looks pretty cool.
